I bought these pans about a year ago. I was so pleased. I also bought an expensive set of wood utensils and threw my metal ones out. All and all I'd say I spent $700+. At first they were great. Hand washed, wood utensils and never in the oven. My first mistake was trying to cook a pot roast with bone in my Dutch Oven. Big scratch!!! No pan should be so fragile. By the end of the year every pan is scratched and I don't mean one little scratch in the bottom. These pans look worse than my Costco brand after 5 years of wear which they replaced @$150. When I get the guts to tell my husband what garbage they are, I'm going back to Costco.

but I give only four stars because I don't love the non-stick coating much. It falls apart and comes off over time and I wonder how much ends up in our food. I'd get the regular ones. But the pots are great.

I received these pans in perfect shape and very quickly. I absolutely love this set. The only thong missing was a lid for the 12 inch fry pan, which I was able to order separately.

Because I am the cook in the family, two Christmases ago my family purchased a 14 piece set of Calaphon cookware for me. It replaced our aged and lightweight set of Revereware. This was a generous gift, coasting nearly $400. For all its cost, the Calaphon product is highly disappointing. Here are my issues:
- The selection of pots and pans makes no sense. There are many near duplicate sized large pans, few medium sized pans and no small pans in a 10 pan set.
- The lids won't interchange. Several pans are within 1/2" diameter of each other but they won't share the lids. Some pans came with no lids and you can't interchange the lids because they are just a little different than the lid sizes of the pans with lids.
- The pans are rediculously heavy. This creats two problems. First, you HAVE to use both hands to lift a pot full of water or a frying pan with grease. This makes pouring off liquid difficult because you have no free hand for stiring or doing other work, and I'm a 190lb guy is good shape! Secondly the heavy weight of pans makes heating the pans up excessivly long. Boiling a pot of water seems to take forever and you need to pre-heat a frying pan for a full five minutes or more if you want the food to sear. We cook with propane, which has a low BTU content compared to gas, so this is a big problem.
- The handles are secured by thick rivits. This wouldn't seem like an issue until you put a steamer basket into a pan; you can't get it back out because it hangs up on the rivits.
- The gaskets of the lids leak fluid when the pan is hot. I don't know if this is from the steam in the pot or from left over dishwater from cleaning. It looks a little soapy.
All in all, if this were not a gift, I would have taken these pans right back or at this point just thrown them away and gotten something different. But it's hard to tell your family that you're not happy with a $400 gift.
Don't get sucked in by those gift dispalys at Macy's. This is not a good gift.

My wife and I got this set of pans for our wedding 5 years ago. Initially we were blown away by how much better they are than the average Teflon non-stick pans. We don't eat out often and we have been overall delighted with the set.
The pans that we use the most, however, after 5 years were starting to stick to food and were generally not working well. Since we like the set so much we went to bed bad and beyond to buy a new replacement pan for over $100. In the store, the salesperson overheard us talking, confirmed that we got the set through our registry with them and handed us a brand new pot and we walked out the door. No forms. No hassle. Easy.
In review, excellent pans but they won't last you indefinitely. However, who cares when you can waltz into a store that sells them and return them with relatively little hassle.
