I was a little hesitant to try an item from the Calphalon One line given all the mixed reviews and complaints about food sticking and difficulties in cleaning the pans after use. I am so happy I followed my gut and ordered this item. The pan is AWESOME. I first used it to brown chicken breasts prior to using them in a crock-pot recipe. I followed all of the instructions provided by Calphalon (letting the meat sit out for a few minutes to come to room temperature, using a fat, not turning the heat on too high, etc.) and the results were fantastic. The chicken cooked much more quickly and evenly than it would have in my normal, cheap cookware. After I was done, the pan was definitely messy, with a brown scorched looking bottom. I just used a little bit of dish soap and a regular sponge and it cleaned up instantly. I am definitely going to purchase additional items from this line.

In regards to the other items in the set...I love the little pot holder. It is much easier than putting on an oven mitt and is ribbed with silicone for easy gripping. I have only tried one recipe from the cookbooks but was very pleased with the results. They both contain great general cooking tips and info too.

I just bought it and tested it by frying eggs and bacon. I preheated it and used blue bonnet. It heated up quickly and the cleanup was a breeze compared to my rangeware ,hellware, stainless steel. It allowed me to use my higher temp setting on my jenn air. I think I will enjoy cooking again. Next test pork chops. Buy it.

I don't know who can NOT love this beautiful pan. The towel and pot holder are really nice too. The pan heats up evenly and is a perfect mix between non stick and stainless steel. The only problem I have with it is... I'm having a hard time keeping the nice smooth finish of the interior. Don't ever use anything other than a sponge to keep the pan regardless of what the instructions say, it WILL scratch.

This is not a non stick pan, make sure you cure it before you start cooking in it. The pan heats evenly browns and carmelizes food nicely ,

I really like the oven Mitt hope they sell them separetly soon.

The two cook books that comes with this set, had some nice receipts.

I've only owned this set for 2 weeks and have used the pan for just about everything. The large surface area allows great dispursement of heat to quickly reduce liquids. The high sides make it easy to prepare large recipes without spilling when stirring. Performs like a large skillet and wok in one. Cleans up like a dream. Lovely free gift with purchase.

Yes- I just purchased the Calphalon kitchen shears, and on the box it stated that the blades detach for easy cleaning. We tried and they did not budge. So I did a search to find out how they worked, and the one review mentioned the same thing. Is there a tool that they need to come apart? Funny thing.

This pot is mediocre. There are two problems that I would not expect in what is named as part of Calphalon's higher-priced line:

-the stainless steel discolors much more easily than the other piece of Calphalon I own, a triply line frying pan that I'm happy with, and seems harder to get clean even with elbow grease and vinegar

-perhaps because there's only an aluminum base or perhaps because the aluminum is less than high quality, it took 15-20 minutes to boil 4 qts of water on an electric range on the middle setting (and the instructions recommend not going higher)

On the plus side, the glass lid actually fits my 10" Triply frying pan quite nicely.

If you want a pot for pasta, look elsewhere.

I cook every night for 4-5 people. I thought I had all the necessary equipment. But I just recently purchased this pot and it has made my life so much easier. I can steam tamales. Or corn. Or parboil ribs before putting them on the grill. I can boil tiny potatoes and steam broccoli at the same time. You can monitor the food via the see-thru lid. There is a steamer basket as well as a strainer for pasta. It's just the right size - not too big, not too small. I recommend it!

Perfect for the reasons I purchased it, cooking pasta and steaming veggies. With the pasta insert I can steam a whole head of cauliflower and a big head or two of broccoli all at the same time. I also like that I can cook pasta, linguine, drain the water and replace the pasta insert with linguine back in pot, put the glass lid on and it stays warm in pot. Also, great for corn on the cob. I haven't used the smaller steamer insert at all. I don't use the pot for soups or stews, I have a Calphalon 10-quart Dutch Oven for that (pot roast and chili). I am especially happy to find this set after purchasing an 8-qt pasta insert a couple of years ago that I thought would fit my old Calphalon 8-qt stock pot only to discover that it only fits a Calphalon Contemporary 8-qt pot. That was a waste of money because it's never been used. However, I'm VERY happy with this set because it's perfect for the reasons I bought it and I highly recommend it. It's easy enough to clean with hot soapy water, then I use the dishwasher just to drain it.

These potholders look better than they work. While they do live up to their claim to be extremely heat proof, and they're affordable, they're very difficult to use. They're flexible enough but you can't get a good grip on pans, casserole dishes, etc. to remove then from the oven. Perhaps if they had a pocket to put your hand in they'd work better. For now I only use them as "hot plates" because they just don't work well for retrieving objects from hot ovens or stove tops.
