You may be able to get better nonstick than these, but for the price you absolutely cannot beat this set.



- The pans are a nice heavy Aluminum that heats very evenly and quickly.

- The nonstick is wonderful and absolutely nothing sticks. This also makes cleanup a breeze.

- The nonstick appears to be very durable. Someone was using a metal utensil on mine and this, along with over 6 months of usage they still look brand spankin new!

- Like it says, they are oven safe up to 450° F. Most nonstick pans are not oven safe so this adds to their versatility.

- The handle does indeed stay very cool.

- The sloped sides do make flipping of items very easy, and simple to slide them out of the pan.

- The appearance of the set is wonderful. They look very nice and more expensive then they are.



So far, I am yet to find a negative with the Contemporary Nonstick skillets. As someone who does a lot of cooking for a hobby, these are highly recommended!

I bought my pans a little over two years ago. They've been great. These pans have not warped in any way; they clean extremely easily; and they are great for everyday cooking. I use these pans for a variety of cooking tasks--much more than cooking omelets--and they've handled just about everything I've thrown at it. Although I don't use them in the oven much, it's nice to know that they are oven safe.



As for the nonstick coating holding up to everyday cooking for 2 years, the 12 inch has held up great but I noticed that the 10 inch lost most of its nonstick coating in the last couple months. I decided to put Calphalon's lifetime warranty to test, and sent my 10 inch pan to their warranty claims department with a letter explaining my situation. In the interim, I bought a nice, cheap 10in cast iron pan to hold me over. In less than 3 weeks, I got a brand new replacement! So, the bottom line is that I got my money's worth with these pans. And, you can't beat lifetime warranty with a company which actually honors their lifetime warranty policy.

The 10 and 12 inch pans came as a set. The 10 inch pan is of poor quality. The "non-stick" surface quickly wore off, and food sticks to it completely (despite using oil). The handle became loose within a month, and cannot be tightened by a screwdrive, and the pan is at risk from separating from the handle when you pick it up off the stove.



The 12 inch pan is fine, and none of the problems mentioned above happened to this pan. I don't understand why there is such a difference in quality between the two pans, but you should not buy the set.

These Calphalon nonstick pans are wonderful for cooking just about anything! My only concern was how the pans were packed. The inner packing contents of the box were flimsy, and the pans were slightly scratched when I received them. Other than that, they work quite well.

I have used these pans nearly everyday for well over two years now and they are still going strong. They still don't stick and cleaning up is very easy- even if they sit overnight. It's true that the bolts get food stuck to them but I find them fairly easy to clean. I love these pans, my sister has a set and loves them and my mother recently got some and loves them too. I would strongly recommend these.

After only three months of responsible use (plastic or silicone spatulas, cleaning only with liquid "green" detergent and a non-scratch scrub pad) we have a hole in the non-stick coating. We do follow a low-fat, vegetarian diet, but always lubricated the pan with vegetable oil before adding food. If you invest this much money, get a Swiss Diamond--that lasted us four years. As for me, I plan to buy a new, cheap non-stick pan every 6 months.

These pans were brilliantly nonstick for about 10-15 usages. They were never touched with anything metal, only heat resistant plastic utensils, and scrubbing sponges, no metal contained therein. They are no longer the least bit nonstick. What a waste of money.

I purchased these pans in March 2008 and have gotten my money's worth. However today I am ready to throw out the 12-inch pan. Food burns in spots in the pan, and the surface of the pan is flaking off. The nonstick property of both pans has degraded although I followed the care instructions for the cookware.



I use the pans 2-3 times a week and they have performed well. But these Calphalon pans do not last any longer than other less expensive nonstick brands I owned in the past. Since the Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick brand is covered by a lifetime warranty, I will request a replacement set, or at least a replacement for the 12-inch pan, from Calphalon.

I use a gas cook top & have to replace my "breakfast" pans every year. I only use the non-stick pans for eggs, omelets, etc which I cook almost daily.. These pans seem to be holding up very well. They must be hand washed, but it takes almost zero effort. The handles never get hot, and are easy for me to grip.I have had these pans for almost 2 months. Time will tell if they are going to perform as I'd like, but so far, so good. For Calphalon, the price was very good.

I had this pan in an earlier version called the Paella pan. It was my favorite pan and I used it all the time. After many years of service it developed several pits so, after a lot of thought, I decided to disgard it and buy a new one. Calphalon no longer makes the Paella pan but, the Everyday pan is the same shape (just slightly smaller) so, I felt it was a good replacement. For some reason (that I can't put my finger on), this pan doesn't seem as high quality as the older generation pans. Although not light weight, it doesn't feel as substantial as the older ones. Calphalon pans used to be professional quality. This pan, while nice, doesn't have that "professional" feel to it. Don't get me wrong. It seems to be a quality product. I just don't know if the quality justifies the price.

This pan's size and shape makes it very versatile. You can cook just about anything in it. It can be used as a frying pan or, using the included lid, cook anything that needs to be covered. Since it can go into the oven, you can bake, roast or broil with it. Overall, very nice pan.

Although I love the versatilty of this pan, I would recommend you check out other brands and judge quality vs. price before buying a Calphalon product.

I really enjoy using this pan. In the last few years, I've cooked many different items in this pan, such as pork chops, chicken, vegetables, tofu, etc. and have gotten great results. The pan maintains heat well, the handles stay cool, and it is fairly easy to clean. The lid is also a great to have for when braising and keeping splatters to a minimum. Excellent buy.

I have had this pan for at least 2 years now and I use it for everything. Even using it for stir frying instead of my wok. I can't imagine living without this pan. One thing to know - Calphalon (not the non-stick) really does not stick much. You have to heat the pan first, then add oil, then your food. If you add oil to the pan cold, the *oil* will burn on the pan and then everything will stick to the burned on oil. To fix this you have to really scrub the burned on oil off. Calphalon used to make a cleaner (don't know if they still do) or you can use bon ami or some such thing. If you use the pan properly, add a little oil when the pan is hot, then it is a breeze to use and to clean. This is an amazing pan at an incredible price. I've given a bunch as gifts.

Nice, big, deep, skillets. Love the metal handles so I don't have to worry about going from stove top to oven. Surprisingly they don't get very warm while cooking on stove.

FYI: they do not have the thick disk bottoms of some of the more expensive ones, but perform very well and so far no warping.

Would definitely recommend for those looking for a quality budget set.

I have bought this two-piece set twice, and after the second time, no more. In my home these have been every day use pans.



Pros:

-Nicely weighted, great non-stick when new.

-Deep enough that food doesn't fall out while stirring or browning.



Cons:

-Like many other reviewers have mentioned, the rivets are in a bad spot and take extra time to clean. The handles are not comfortable to hold and get especially hot when the oven is going. Not easy to grip with a mitt.

-I never felt that these pans heated evenly.

-Every year for two years I have had to replace them. They only seem to last about 12 months before the quality goes south very quickly. The nonstick finish begins to flake off until eventually it looks like if I continue cooking on them, the nonstick will flake into the food! I use either a silicone food turner or a bamboo wood food turner. Neither of which should be causing the finish to degrade over such a short time.



I will not be buying this set of pans for a third time. I'm out to try others out there that are in the same price range or better and will have increased longevity.

These pans have been a joy to use since I bought them. They heat evenly, clean easily inside and out and have marvelously comfortable handles. At first I was worried that the rougher textured teflon wouldn't be slick enough to cook eggs effectively but I haven't had any trouble at all and in practice it seems just as slick as smoother finishes and is perfect for omelets, crepes, frittata and just about everything else I've thrown at it. Superb value for money.

This is the second time in a few years that I have purchased these products. They are the workhorses of my kitchen, used nearly everyday. They do a fine job and hold up pretty well. Alas, all Teflon is not forever and the smaller of the two fry pans no longer works so well (my husband managed to give it a couple of deep scratches, too). There is just no better deal out there, so I, quite happily, bought another set.

Cooking fish was always such a pain, and then I bought this pan. I rub a little bit of olive oil in the pan with a paper towel (per instructions), pre-heat, put in the fish. No smoke, no smell, and the cleanup is so easy. I must admit that when I unpacked the pan I was concerned because it seemed so big. No problem at all. Plus for messy people like me, food doesn't slop over the edge. I highly recommend this pan.

I love this pan! I have stainless steel cookware that seems to always stick...I have cooked several different types of foods, i.e. country steak, bacon, rice, vegetables and everything cooks evenly! Non-stick, just as advertised. Very easy to clean, too. I am very pleased with this product.

If it wasn't under a lifetime warrantee I would have thrown it in the trash! I sent back my 4th Everyday Pan last week ... not because I like it so much ... but approximately every two years I've had to send it back to Calphalon for replacement. At least they honor their warrantee. Eventually the non-stick will start flaking and the pan will start developing `hot spots'. It's never been abused or misused according to their instructions, but that does not seem to matter. The sad part of the story is that I really love the pan. It is the right size to do a multitude of cooking tasks and on a crowded stovetop there is no 10" handle to get in the way. Would I actually purchase another one or recommend the product? Definitely not ... and until they stop honoring their warrantee I'll keep sending them back for replacement.



Ok ... an update. I send back my 4th Everyday Pan and quite promply they honored the lifetime warrantee. But instead of sending me back another Everyday Pan they send me a 'Calphalon One Infused Anodized 8-Inch Fry Pan'. Don't get me wrong ... it is a nice 8" fry pan. But it is NOT any close to an Everyday Pan nor would I have ever bought one.

I bought this pan, for myself, with the glass top, and I truly use it just about every day. I like it so much, that I bought this one as a wedding gift and the recipents tell me that this is the pan that they use 90% of the time. It's an easy pan to clean, even without having a non-stick coating.

I purchased this pan 5 years ago. It has "D1382 made in Toledo, Ohio" stamped on the bottom. I was excited about the potential for a large quick heating aluminum pan with short handles. It can be used as a substitute for a number of pans, but it performs none of those tasks superbly. Using this pan for various purposes, I struggled to find its true niche in life. I tried it as a fry pan, a stir-fry pan, and a casserole dish. It is a jack of all trades and a master of none. I eventually discovered this pan's true purpose and declared it King of the Oven. I use this pan for broiling steaks and other messy oven chores that require high heat. It is a job this pan performs very well and saves my gleaming stainless steel pans from that ugly baked on grease.



I have come to the conclusion that cooks fall in one of two camps, they either prefer stainless steel or aluminum pans. An aluminum pan performs very differently from a multi-clad stainless steel pan. I confess to have a preference for multi-clad stainless steel. I have a variety of pans from different manufacturers in my collection. I have Cuisinart Multi-Clad, All-Clad, Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel, and Calphalon Commercial. Each pan in my kitchen has a specific purpose. If price was not a factor, I would have a kitchen full of Al-Clad. Nothing cooks like All-Clad, but it is very expensive. My second choice is Cuisinart Multi-Clad which is very good cookware and on sale periodically. The Calphalon Commercial pans I own are the Omlette pan and a Everyday (oven) pan.



Every pan has a specific purpose. This pan does not show the abuse it is subjected to in the oven.



** CLARIFICATION OF PRODUCT DESCRIPTION.

The product description can be easily misinterpreted. The statement "durable hard-anodized finish is stick- and scratch-resistant" should not be interpreted as a non-stick surface. The pan will release meat once it has seared, but it will not release egg and starchy foods.

I thought I would be able to season/condition this pot. But no go. Everything sticks. However, it does clean up easily enough, if I do it right away. I really like the pot design very much. 2 identical handles on either side. Makes for better maneuvering and handling. I wish it was deeper, though. I will use it, however, not very much. Because I am really a big fan of nonstick pans. All-in-all it is a nice frying pan if you don't mind that it dose NOT have a nonstick surface.

This pan certainly was aptly named. I use it for everything. It's the perfect size and shape. I love the fact that it has no handle sticking out to get in the way. Nothing sticks to it and has beautifully even heat distribution. I would definitely recommend this one.

I was going to get a 10" skillet, until I saw this one and read the other reviews. I decided to get this instead w/lid. I am not disappointed. I love this skillet! I use it almost every day. The sides slope, so it's easy to get food out of it and there is plenty of room for bacon strips w/o having to cut them in half. I also like the fact that there is no long handle to get in the way. This skillet is not heavy but it is good quality. Very nice product!
