I already own the 6" knife in this series and use it extensively. On some things it was just too cumbersome to use effectively so I bought this smaller combo. The knives come very sharp right out of the box and keep a nice edge. Sharpening is easy and the blades hone up beautifully. The style may not be for everyone but I like the ergonomics of the handle. The blade must be kept clean and dry as it will spot if any water is left to dry on it. I love these knives and believe they`re a great set for the household. I would definitely buy them again.

My wife and I love these knives, the Katana's! We choose these over some of the other brand name knives. We like the weight and design. I'm a pincher when it comes to how I grip my knives and the rounded edges and extended bolster make it very comfortable. I would try these knives. Go some where and hold a Calphalon Katana knife. You will see a difference. Extremely sharp. I have the two piece East/West setCalphalon Katana Cutlery 2-Piece East/West Knife Set, the 7" SantukoCalphalon Katana Stainless-Steel 7-Inch Santoku Knife and the 7" slicerCalphalon Katana Stainless-Steel 7-Inch Slicer Knife. I will be getting the bread and serrated utlity knives also. I store mine on a magnet strip bought on Amazon, MIU Stainless-Steel 15-Inch Magnetic Knife Storage Bar. I'm not use to not having to pull out my steel every time. I hope this helps. GK
