 "Only mediocre" 2010-01-06
By HomeChefNC
This pot is mediocre. There are two problems that I would not expect in what is named as part of Calphalon's higher-priced line:

-the stainless steel discolors much more easily than the other piece of Calphalon I own, a triply line frying pan that I'm happy with, and seems harder to get clean even with elbow grease and vinegar

-perhaps because there's only an aluminum base or perhaps because the aluminum is less than high quality, it took 15-20 minutes to boil 4 qts of water on an electric range on the middle setting (and the instructions recommend not going higher)

On the plus side, the glass lid actually fits my 10" Triply frying pan quite nicely.

If you want a pot for pasta, look elsewhere.

"how did I live without this?" 2009-11-19
By Ginger O. (Berkeley, CA USA)
I cook every night for 4-5 people. I thought I had all the necessary equipment. But I just recently purchased this pot and it has made my life so much easier. I can steam tamales. Or corn. Or parboil ribs before putting them on the grill. I can boil tiny potatoes and steam broccoli at the same time. You can monitor the food via the see-thru lid. There is a steamer basket as well as a strainer for pasta. It's just the right size - not too big, not too small. I recommend it!

"Calphalon 8-Quart Multi Pot Set" 2009-04-21
By Gwendolyn Norcross (Atlanta)
Perfect for the reasons I purchased it, cooking pasta and steaming veggies. With the pasta insert I can steam a whole head of cauliflower and a big head or two of broccoli all at the same time. I also like that I can cook pasta, linguine, drain the water and replace the pasta insert with linguine back in pot, put the glass lid on and it stays warm in pot. Also, great for corn on the cob. I haven't used the smaller steamer insert at all. I don't use the pot for soups or stews, I have a Calphalon 10-quart Dutch Oven for that (pot roast and chili). I am especially happy to find this set after purchasing an 8-qt pasta insert a couple of years ago that I thought would fit my old Calphalon 8-qt stock pot only to discover that it only fits a Calphalon Contemporary 8-qt pot. That was a waste of money because it's never been used. However, I'm VERY happy with this set because it's perfect for the reasons I bought it and I highly recommend it. It's easy enough to clean with hot soapy water, then I use the dishwasher just to drain it.

 "WHAT A GREAT POT!" 2009-03-16

This pot is excellent quality. A little hard to clean and for some reason the dishwasher leaves spots on the bottom. I do recommend it though. Easy storage but you need a tall space.

 "And they're cute too!" 2009-09-24
By K. Garren
I love these little baby pans! They're small, stack inside each other, and are of the highest, sturdiest tri-ply quality. I own four of these and they come in handy for tons of things like single servings and appetizers. As I am forever on a mission to impress my in laws in the kitchen (because nothing seems to ever impress them whatsoever), they have come through for me even during breakfast visits. These were perfect for Julia Child's multiple egg recipes--on the stove, add a little butter, drop two eggs in (along with a bit of cream or herbs), then pop under the broiler for just a minute or so. Voila! Breakfast in under five minutes, served beautifully and elegantly in its own stainless dish. I also like to use these in order to keep my portions under control. When eating something like pasta, using these as your plate gives you the perfect amount to eat without losing your head. And the price was great too. Love them!

"These little pans are a big deal!" 2009-09-12
By Deborah Powley (Paducah, KY)
Perfect size for an individual portion. Non-stick pans are very bad for you. Non-stick pans kill pet birds and they'll kill you too, it just takes longer. Over time the non-stick coating comes off in your food, little by little, and you eat it. Not so with these little pans. Everyone in my family eats something different so individual serving pans are a must. Easy clean up too. I hand wash mine. Should last forever!

These pans are just another "hit" for Caphalon. The size is perfect for one dish servings. I'm very happy with them and will purchase more Caphalon stainless items in the future.

"Great pans, but smaller than advertised" 2009-04-29
By Larry (Farmington Hills, Michigan USA)
The only drawback to these pans is that they are smaller than advertised. They aren't roughly 6x9 oval pans; they're 6" round pans. When I first looked at their description I would have passed on them if I had known their true size. But I didn't return them because they look great and they do seem to be good quality.

 "Great for single servings" 2008-08-18
By Kathryn Bennett (Phoenix, AZ USA)
Very good quality pans. I like the handles and you can hang the pans from a pot rack. I use these pans multiple times a week, mainly to make eggs "sur la plat" for breakfast or a light meal. Heat pan on the stove top, add butter or oil and (optionally) saute a small amount of onions, peppers or a few spoonfuls of almost any leftovers. Add 1-3 eggs (crack the eggs into a small dish first if you want to be extra careful not to get broken yolks or pieces of shell), and salt, and cook without stirring until whites are beginning to set. Finish by (optionally) topping with a little cheese and then broiling or toasting in a toaster oven until done. This is super easy, easier to do than to describe! Remove from heat and eat right from the pan. Remember the pan is hot, you might need to set it on a potholder at the table. I'm sure these pans would be good for all sorts of single serving dishes, including tapas of course.

 "wonderful set of cookware!" 2010-01-19
By Carma (Southwest USA)
I have had this set for over two years and I love it! And I have to say, in response to the other reviews, I don't buy Barkeeper's Friend (or anything similar), but I have no problem cleaning these pans - EVEN FOR EGGS. As long as you preheat correctly there is little sticking or cleanup, and a little soaking takes care of the times when the preheating wasn't done correctly (like, by my husband!). Just remember: "hot pan, cold oil, food won't stick!"

These pans heat quickly and wonderfully evenly every time - I never have to turn my burner above medium. Not to mention, they are beautiful and ergonomically easy to handle. I have carpal tunnel syndrome but the construction of the handle and the way it joins to the pan makes it easy to lift and carry. Also, the way the handle joins to the pan (with a Y construction) ensures that it is a very solid join but conducts little heat, so the handle remains cool.

Yes, the handle on top of the lid gets hot since it is directly over the heat, but that seems kind of obvious; just use a hot pad to lift the lid. Also, I have had none of the discoloration problems mentioned here; I'm not sure what might cause that, but whatever it is I apparently don't do it. I have also had NO problems with the pans denting and I do sometimes use metal spoons, though I prefer wooden.

No, they don't look brand new any more, but really, who cares? They are extremely well-constructed and in two years of hard use (family of six) none of the joins or screws have loosened even a smidge, and no glass lids have broken. Plus, they are by far the most attractive pots and pans I've even seen, with lovely elegant lines. I like having them in my kitchen to look at as well as to use.

"My thoughts on Calphalon Contemporary Stainless" 2009-10-11
By C. Conn (Bellevue, Wa)
I bought the Calphalon Contemporary Stainless cookware 13 pieces set three months ago and wanted to give my thoughts. First of all I am a beginner cook and have only done simple things with the pans.

I did my homework; I read various web sites on stainless cookware and how to care for it. I read all of the instructions that came with the pans. I checked out Calphalons web page as well.

I have had no issues with sticking, none. First I warm up the pan slowly, and then I put a light layer of heart friendly oil in the pan.

Clean up is a breeze, the trick BAR KEEPERS FRIEND.

The pans still look as good as new. Use plastic and wood utensils with the pans, no metal. Mine came with a set of utensils, which I use every time.

One reviewer damaged the pans by hitting a ladle against the rim, I have been careful not to "BANG" the ladle against the rim.

And yes, the lid handles do get hot.

Nothing negative to say, buy these. Did I mention BAR KEEPERS FRIEND?

"Great Cookware; but 4, not too terrible issues" 2009-01-08
By ebay8503 (Ohio)
I would rate this 4.6; reasons to follow:

To start off, I spent around 5 months of looking into cookware before I made a decision on these. Some of the "Honorable mentions" would be All Clad, Emeril Ware, Simply Calphalon, Calphalon One, Calphalon NonStick, and the Calphalon Anodized. After much debate, handling, and "weighing of pros and cons", I settled on this set.

The BreakDown:

I LOVE this set and would definitely purchase these lil' gems again. I plan on getting married soon and I'm the more of the cook in the relationship; hence, I was looking for something long-term and that both of us would feel comfortable using.

THE SELLING POINTS:

Stylish, brushed stainless steel coating. Looks good now, should still be in style later on. Traditional look with a contemporary style.

See-through lids (although it fogs up and you can't see anything anyway, it's a splashy idea nonetheless)

Smooth handle with "Y" connected handle - This is GREAT since the heat transfer area is slight and really keeps the handle safe to the touch. The other thing with the handle is that it's easy to hold even with the heavier pan (3-quart sauté pan). When I checked out All Clad's cookware, their handles hurt my hand. Theirs is in the shape of a sharp edged trough - I could barely hold the thing without pain; and this was before food was in it.

Weight: These don't really weigh all that much compared to some of the other brands. By no means is it lightweight; but it provides a "solid" feel to it. My Fiance, who has small hands (ring size 3) doesn't have a problem handling these. She used All Clad and hated the handle design and the weight of them.

Even Heating: it's been mentioned before, but these really do heat up evenly. Some (Emerilware) have this little copper/metal base on the bottom of the pan. Pretty much only the food above the base gets cooked and the outsides don't. I've never had a problem with uneven cooking, even with a largely stuffed pan. Don't misunderstand this, you still do have to rotate food while cooking; but this isn't a serious concern.

Non-stick: Although this set is NOT non-stick. It sure has some of it's properties. I can make a fried egg with no problem and saute stuff with no sticking. IF food does start to stick, see Tip 1 below.

THE BLAHHH:

Heating: It IS true...these will heat up quickly. DO NOT put these past HIGH! Even Med-High is pushing it. In my experience, I can saute onions, peppers, chicken ect at low-med heat with no problem. I can not tell you how many times I've burned olive oil in these things; and it's a $***& to get off. If you do happen to burn stuff in these, get BarKeeper's Friend. It takes off most of what you had on there.

Tip 1: I found out that after cooking a particularly "dirty" dish (or if food starts to stick to it), I'd have to use BK Friend to get it back to where food (eggs in particular wouldn't stick to it).

Edges: You'll notice that there's an edge for where the lid fits comfortably in place. The problem here is that if you burn something in the pan, you'll need a knife/razor blade to scrape this stuff off. Even BKF won't get off some of this stuff if you burn it on good enough. I like the edges, but the fact that there's no way to really clean this is a con.

Scratching: Ok, here's the deal with this. Calphalon DOES say that you CAN use metal utensils with this set. Using metal utensils doesn't hurt the cookware; but it WILL scratch them. I use wood or plastic with these and have had great luck with it. In the case that I do need to scrape stuff off the bottom. I have no problem with using metal. If I'm somewhat careful, I might inflict a minute scratch.

Washing: This really isn't a Con per se, but it can be a turn-off to some people. You WILL have to hand wash these and DRY them when you're done cooking. No air-drying here. It'll leave water marks and food will stick.

Tip 2: always use hot soapy water when washing this stuff and never put cold water in these when they're hot in order to get the "bits" off. You'll ruin it and void the warranty.

Conclusion:

From talking to other people, this set seems to be a bit more finicky about it's care and use than some of the other brands. For me, this has been a "Smooth" set to work with and it seems to be a great tool. Something that I'll be using for a rather long time. It is one of the more expensive of Calphalon's line, and you can't always find this line. Get the stuff early, and get all the matching stuff that you'd want - it might not be here forever.

 "Very happy" 2009-01-08
By Gerald Love (Tampa)
First a comment on some of the specific complaints I've seen in the review: These are stainless steel. The are not non-stick. If you are going to fry eggs and the like, you should pick up a tefflon-coated skillet (remember that non-stick-coated pans tend to last only a half-decade or so, are limited to 450f, and are generally not dishwasher-safe). Also: if you over-heat these, or put in the wrong things, they will discolor. This can be removed relatively easily with Barkeeper's Friend (or LemonJuice I am told). If you misheat, or under butter/oil, things will stick.

So why get Stainless? It will last far longer than tefflon. It will carmalize better than aluminum. It won't interact with foods. It is oven safe to very high temperatures (though the glass lids are only safe to 450, pick up some steel lids if you need to). They are far more rugged (can use metal utensils, though I don't; can use the dishwasher, though I don't).

I've been very happy with these so-far. They have performed better than expected (the aluminum core is quite good at moving heat) and are beautiful. Right now they are in their "somewhat scratched" phase, which is the least attracive (it's between "pristine" and "uniformly scratched so it looks 'brushed'"), and I'm proud to show them off. I just need to pick up a Sautisse and I should merrily cooking for many years to come.

 "Simply Amazing" 2009-12-26
By Diane M. Napolitano (Bay Shore, NY United States)
I'm on a crusade against Teflon (as much as one can be lol) and love the look and the durability of stainless steel cookware. However, for some inexplicable reason, most stainless steel cookware has handles that are also stainless steel, so the handles heat up along with the pan. Seeing how this is a huge inconvenience for anyone who actually wants to use stainless steel pans, when I saw this set, with silicone rubber around the handles, I knew I needed them. (Also, I'd been using my grandmother's Farberware pots and the handles started becoming loose, and they DON'T make Farberware like they used to lol.) $199 is a lot, granted, but you get a lot in this set, and the glass covers and the cookware is of extremely high quality. The pots and pants heat up quick and evenly, and they're heavy, extremely durable, and dishwasher safe. Calphalon for the win.

i regreted buying this product after a few weeks of using them. dont be fooled by the caphalon name. the soft grip handles on these pots "slide out" when the pans heat up as this can be very dangerous especially if your transferring a pan from one burner to another. also you have to cook your food on low heat or your food will stick. i definitely do not recommemd.

After a mere 16 months I have to replace this cookware set because all of the nonstick coating from the bottom of the pans has apparently been an unwelcome addition to the family dinner. I will not make the mistake of paying BIG money for an overpriced, poor quality cookware set again. I've done my homework this time around and won't leave my choice up to thinking because I paid more that that would in any way reflect quality. I will never again buy nonstick. It will be stainless steel for me and it will NOT be Calphalon.

By B. Valentine (Seattle, WA)
Pots and pans is more of a personal choice... but I found these work great. I have used them for a few months now and they still look brand new. I have a gas stove top and you can't see any burn marks, etc.

Non-stick works perfect - easy clean up every time. I like the added bonus of the grips on the handles as you can hold them and feel virtually no heat while they are on the stove.

Heat distribution seems to be fine.

I only wash them by hand, I have not tried to put them in the dishwasher as I am afraid it will damage them, besides, clean up is so easy, you can be done with it in no time.

 "Too Bad It's No Longer Made-In-USA" 2009-11-20
By Nekobasu (South Lake Tahoe, CA, USA)
I have a set of Calphalon tri-ply cookware that I purchased in 1996 when I got married. It was all made in USA back then, which was the biggest reason I felt I could trust it. For some reason, Calphalon's web site incorrectly states that tri-ply was introduced later. That's not true. The line was later re-engineered to use less metal and for lower quality standards in order for manufacturing to be outsourced to China. Look on the packaging for tri-ply products in your local Macy's, Williams-Sonoma, or other store that carries it. It's now made in China.

One very noticeable difference is that the old lids have thick handles. The thinnest part of the cross-section of the top center of the old lid handles is about 3/8" thick. The same cross-section of the new lid handles is 3/16" thick at most. In addition, the seam at the spot weld where the metal rim is joined to itself is very smooth and unnoticeable unless you specifically look for it. On the new lids, the same spot weld joint is offset about 1/64" and is obvious to the casual observer. You might think 1/64" is small, but when you consider that the same joint on the old lids is aligned to within less than 4/1000" (less than the thickness of an average human hair), it's way off.

Another difference I've noticed is that the pots and pans feel lighter that than the old stuff. This means that there is less metal, which translates into less even heat for cooking, and a greater chance of warping.

For some very stupid reason, when the tri-ply cookware was re-engineered for Chinese manufacturing, someone got the "bright" idea to change the shape of the pan and lid rims. That way, if I buy additional pieces of tri-ply for my kitchen, the pans and lids are incompatible with my existing tri-ply collection. The Chinese are becoming increasingly wealthy. The day will come; maybe in another 10-20 years; when manufacturing will get re-outsourced to Africa. The Chinese are already doing this themselves. At that time, you can trust Calphalon to re-engineer the tri-ply line again for even less metal and lower quality. You can be sure that it won't be compatible with what was made in USA or China either. Caveat emptor.

If I were starting out all over again on purchasing a cookware set I plan for my grandchildren to inherit, I would look for an American or European manufacturer that continues to make products that are compatible with what they manufactured at least 50 years ago and still produce in the original country of origin. You never know when you might wish to add to your collection or replace something that got damaged, was lost during a move, or never got returned by someone who borrowed it.

I was about to spend over $500 on additions to my Calphalon tri-ply set, including a 12" wok with covered lid, stock pot, pasta insert, a 3QT chef's pan, a set of every size of shallow sauce pan, and more. I already have every size of regular sauce pan, skillet, and saute pan, plus a lot more. The in-between size of the shallow sauce pans would have been a perfect addition. Since the lids and pans are incompatible with what I already have, I just bought a 1QT sauce pan (there is no lid in its size) for $30, and called it good. I can live with my existing collection, so that's what I'll do instead.

By the way, I wrote twice to Calphalon regarding the incompatible lids, and all they did was send me automated responses asking me if my issue was resolved. They never did address the issue.

The only reason I gave Calphalon a full three stars is because it's on a par with pretty much everything else getting cranked out of China these days. Let's hope and pray that there is no lead or mercury in the metal. In the USA, lead is commonly used in alloys to enhance machinability, but not for anything that may come into contact with food or would be put on or in a human, like jewelry, surgical tools, and cookware. Outside the USA, mercury could also be used for the same purpose. The Chinese have already demonstrated that they have no problem putting melamine in infant formula and lead-based paint in childrens' toys. Don't put it past them to use a stainless steel alloy that has lead or mercury in it. For those who don't know, stainless steel is an alloy.

"5 Years and going strong" 2008-12-07
By Ronald K. Shy (KY)
Five years ago, I was looking for quality cookware. I researched extensively and even made a spreadsheet for comparisons. After two months I finally settled on the Calphalon Tri-Ply. I bought the same set advertised on Amazon from Bed Bath and Beyond. Price was about the same but I was able to do a side by side comparison with Emerilware and All Clad. I looked at, All Clad, Emerilware, Kitchen Aide, Farberware, and Tramontina.

I am pleased to share that five years ago I made the correct choice and I would buy the same cookware again. In fact, I have continued to add pieces to my set at every chance. Most of the additional pans were purchased from Amazon with a few that I caught on sale from various stores. My wife loves, I love it and it still looks great and performs wonderfully.

Why do we like it?

1. Sturdy, used daily for 5 years

2. Cooks evenly

3. Great glass lids that are interchangeable

4. Comfortable handles that stays cool (if the pan is on the burner evenly)

5. No drip pouring

6. And the kicker.................You can put it in the dishwasher!

Additionally, it cleans easily. Don't get me wrong, it is not non-stick. But with proper heat control and light oil you can fry omelets and eggs without sticking. However, I did buy the matching non-stick tri-ply pan for omelets.

There is not a better cookware on the market at any price. If you think the Calphalon Tri-Ply is too expensive, then keep your old set for another 6 months and save the extra money for the best. I made the mistake of buying what I could afford from Target. (See my previous reviews) I should have just waited and bought the Stainless Tri-Ply.

Five years and it still looks new!

 "Can't cook eggs?" 2008-09-05
By P. Smith (San Antonio, TX)
Very high quality set of cookware as it transfers heat very efficiently on a glasstop stove. The only problem I've have was cooking bacon or eggs even with pools of butter or oil! Ended up having to buy 2 more nonstick pans to add to the set($150 more!). Otherwise I love 'em!

This (13-piece) set is so adorable, you'll make up reasons to cook. Excellent weight, not flimsy. Easy to clean stainless is a wonderful thing. I got the set on (Christmas season) sale, and believe it is a good value at the sale price.

"Just as good as All-Clad at a better price" 2007-09-17
By Mediahound (SF Bay Area, CA United States)
The pots and pans in this set perform just as well as the more expensive All-Clad brand at a much lower price. They even have some features that are not included in the equivalent All-Clad line namely: the rolled lip for easier pouring and the glass lids. It really is nice to be able to see your food cooking without taking the lid off.

Although Calphalon is made in China these are quality made pieces.(All-Clad is made in the USA, but seems to slowly be moving some pieces to China-made so it may just be a matter of time before they too are all made in China)

Cooking and looks wise I feel these Calphalon are every bit as functional and durable as All-Clad and certainly are a better value for the money.

 "Great Starter Set." 2007-08-13
By S. Reddick (Newark, NJ United States)
I purchased this set after my family moved to our new home (real reason- my wife threw out all the old pots and pans so I had to buy new ones!). I didn't want to splurge on the top of the line Calphalon One series because I didn't have any experience with Calphalon products. So I went with this mid-level reasonably priced set. I am so glad I did. This set is wonderful. The pans cook and heat even. Clean-up is a breeze. My wife loves them...NO SCRUBBING! Just place them in some hot soapy water and a regular dish towel and wipe. Everything just comes right off. The silicone handles stay cool and are removable for extra cleaning (if needed). We now own just about every pot and pan in this line and some from the other more pricey lines. Spend the extra 50 to 100 bucks on the Pro Series if you're going to purchase from Target. Better yet...go to the nearest Target and hold them in your hands, you will be able to tell the difference.

Just remember not to use metal utensils when cooking or serving or do what I did. Throw them all out and replace them with them with the Kitchen Essentials® from Calphalon® 8-pc. Utensil Set with Crock - Gray. You won't regret it. FYI...this set seems to be the same set better known as Calphalon Everyday Nonstick 10-Piece Set that's sold in other stores. The only differences are the lids, what's printed on the grips and what pans come in the set.

Makes a great wedding gift too.

"Excellent product / perfect COOKING TOOLS !" 2010-01-08
By StatAppleAnnie (Sac, CA)
Got these for myself and my Sweetie. True craftsmanship requires good tools. Well worth the investment and come w/ a nice stainless steel container; but dropping stuff into it was noisy; so we added a cork circle inside the container & change it periodically. All in all a "regretless purchase". Very Satisfied !

 "Nice!" 2009-12-31
By B. Bradford
I am really a perfectionist so I would actually rate this 4.5 stars because of one gripe. I think the silicone handle grip could have been manufactured better; there are small imperfections along the edge of them. Also the silicone makes them stick to each other a bit as you store them in the crock. As for the metal, the shape and construction of it seems top quality. They have a nice heft to them with a thickness about 2mm. Great shape too for all the spoons. Definitely recommend it, and its a fantastic deal for what you get. The crock is nice too, but it does curve in a bit at the bottom making it a little less stable than it would be with straight walls.

 "Great quality utensils" 2009-09-18
By B (USA)
I bought these to go with our new tri-ply cookware. We really like them. Right out of the box you can tell that they are excellent quality. They are heavy enough to last for years and years, but not so heavy that it's a half a chore to use them. The utensils are a nice size and shape and the crock looks great on the counter, while also providing easy access. So far we are very satisfied with the Calphalon utensils and the cookware.

 "Best non-stick I have used" 2009-08-28
By J. Gossage (augusta, GA)
I have used many non-stick pans over the years and these are the best that I have used. First of all, they look great with the stainless steel exterior and handles. The glass lids come in handy for seeing what's going on inside your pot. The non-stick surface is attractive. But most importantly, food just slides off of these pans. When I used to cook aromatic rice in my old hard anodized pan, it would stick to the sides and need to be soaked off. With these pans, it just slides right out - I have yet to see a grain stick. Same thing with sauces. They are also dishwasher safe and we have not had any problems with them so far over the 9 months that we have owned them. But even if you prefer to handwash them, they are extremely easy to wash because they are so non-stick. They are pricey but well worth the money.

"Don't be misled try these instead" 2007-12-21
By Alicia Maloney (Jamesburg, NJ USA)
As a Calphalon Adonized non-stick user for years,

I was thrilled to see Calphalon come out with a dishwasher safe version

In the Contemporary Stainless steel non-stick

I did not purchase this product from Amazon because I needed it sooner than the 4-6 week wait time listed, otherwise I would have.

I felt the need to post a review however, through Amazon, because

people are posting that Calphalon actually LIES and that if you put the Stainless steel cookware in to the dishwasher it will void the lifetime warranty.

That is UNTRUE I contacted Calphalon and was told ALL of their Stainless

Steel line is dishwasher safe and cleaning it in the dishwasher DOES NOT void the warranty. - a note all of their "Simply Calphalon" cookware line has a just a 10 year warranty

Now as I had previously written I have been a Calphalon user for many years, perhaps people are getting confused with the "original" Calphalon which is the Hard-Adonized with nonstick and without and is still available today.

The Hard-Adonized is absolutely NOT dishwasher safe and putting the HA cookware in the dishwasher WILL totally void the warranty.

Now the comments on the CONTEMPORARY STAINLESS STEEL NON-STICK

These pans are a dream to cook with and clean and Calphalon had made some improvements having the stainless steel line not only is it dishwasher safe it happens to be a bit lighter weight wise (the original Calphalon) is reasonably heavy and they have now also made the handles a cool touch version a GREAT improvement!

As a note Calphalon has also done this cool touch handle on their CALPHALON ONE line of HARD ADONIZED non-stick cookware

(also highly recommended by me)

As the "ONE" also offers a smaller set of eight pieces and is about 100 dollars less (then the 599 for the 10 piece Stainless) But the" ONE" set is handwash only.

So for all of the other people thinking of buying Calphalon's

new offering of stainless steel Non stick

Let your dishwasher do all the work.

Thanks for your time
